Roberta Margot – Lactation Consultant, THH Division
We are happy to announce the additional of Roberta Margot to our Lactation Consultation team. She is a registered nurse and an international board certified lactation consultant. Since 2009, Roberta has helped new parents achieve their breastfeeding goals in the hospital, home, and outpatient setting. Her passion for breastfeeding began back in the late 1970s, with the birth of her first child, at a time when there was scant information on lactation for new moms compared with today. Local La Leche League meetings offered peer support, and soon the cultural support for, and appreciation of the benefits of breastfeeding began to grow globally.
Earlier in her nursing career, Roberta worked in the adult cardiac medical field, and later as an office nurse in a family practice and also with a local pediatric group. Her education and experience have taught her that while nursing a child can be a deeply rewarding part of parenting, it does not always come without difficulty or challenges. Her goal is always to provide compassionate, individualized, and evidenced based care, and help families cherish the bond with their baby, however the feeding experience unfolds.
Roberta earned her RN from Nassau Community College, NY, in 1975, her BSN from the University of Maryland in 2005, and her IBCLC certification in 2009. She is an active member of USLCA and ILCA lactation organizations, and is the proud grandmother of 6 beautiful, breastfed grandchildren!
